Albino Rocca - Rosso di Rocca 2022
Four generations of the Rocca family have been crafting exceptional wine in Barbaresco since the 1940's, when Giacomo Rocca began bottling his wine in demijohns. In the 1960's, his son, Albino, expanded the vineyard holdings of the family and founded the eponymous estate. His hard work, along with his son, Angelo's, grew Albino Rocca into an estate of international acclaim. Today, Albino Rocca is constantly searching for new ways to improve in the vineyard and the cellar, while also maintaining their deep roots of quality and terroir expression of the region. The family has vines in some of the most prestigious Crus of Barbaresco: Ronchi, Ovello, Montersino and Cottà. Recently, the estate was awarded the "Green Experience", an accreditation that highlights natural agricultural techniques, conservation of the environment and encouragement of biodiversity. The estate uses no herbicides, pesticides or additives in the vineyard or the cellar.
All the fruit from this delicious rosso comes from a vineyard in Magliano Alfieri, a municipality on the left side of the river Tanaro, the Albino Rocca purchased in 2022. The Rosso di Rocca — predominantly Nebbiolo with 3% Cabernet Franc — pours a brilliant ruby red. A few swirls of the glass reveal soaring aromas of ripe red fruits mixed with dried flowers and a touch of earth. The palate is juicy and welcoming, offering a ton of red cherry and pomegranate flavors balanced by vibrant acidity and ultra-fine tannins, while delivering a refreshing, lip-smacking finish. This wine is incredibly versatile on the table... seriously, you can't go wrong with any pairing. Aside from being wonderfully delightful on its own, try this resplendent rosso with a range of light starters, grilled salmon salad, roasted chicken, carnitas street tacos or most red meats prepped in any fashion... Honestly, the list goes on and on. Albino Rocco has outdone themselves once again!
