The Paquet family has owned properties in Burgundy since the early 1950's. Agnès Paquet took over the vineyards and set up her Domaine in 2000 after completing her wine business studies in Beaune. The estate is located in the remote village of Meloisey, in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune right near the village of Auxey-Duresses. She conducts every aspect of the winemaking process, from vine to bottle. The micro-production of her wines, combined with her status as a darling of France's three Michelin Star "Somms" (from the restaurants of Alain Ducasse, Anne-Sophie Pic and Joël Robuchon) allows us to realize how lucky we are to feature these beautiful wines.
Agnès' charming Bourgogne Rouge is made from 100% Pinot Noir and is one of the best value Burgundies in the shop. And with the deft hand of Agnès in the vineyard and cellar, she takes her wines to soaring levels of refreshment and drinkability. In the glass, the wine sits a brilliant ruby color with streaks of garnet flecked throughout. The nose displays lovely red berry and floral flavors that explode from the glass. The palate is sleek, racy and refined with a soft mouthfeel and piquant flavors of red cherry, raspberry and cranberry that wash effortlessly across the palate and flow into an invigorating finish. This is a refreshing, food friendly and utterly delightful Bourgogne Rouge. Enjoy with herb roast chicken, a beet salad or salmon on the grill or oven.
