Located in Anjou, in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine de la Petite Roche is owned by the Regnard family, who has been growing vines there since the French Revolution. Today, the 83-hectare estate is owned by Gwenaëlle Regnard and managed by Anjou native Antoine Poupard. The Chenin Blanc vines are grown in schist and limestone soils which benefit from the cool maritime climate of the region. In 2019, Domaine de la Petite Roche received HVE Certification (Haute Valeur Environnementale or High Environmental Value) from the French Ministry of Agriculture. This three-tiered system is a sustainability initiative that encourages farms and vineyards to increase biodiversity, decrease the negative environmental impact of their pesticide/herbicide use, manage their fertilizer inputs and improve their water management. Once an estate completes each of the three, increasingly stringent tiers, they are awarded certification.

Domaine de la Petite Roche Saumur Méthode Traditionnelle is a sparkling wine made with 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Chardonnay made in the traditional method. In the glass, the wine sits a light-gold color with a persistent bead of tiny bubbles. The nose is very expressive with a complex mélange of apple and pear fruits combined with lovely notes of pastry dough and fruit crumble. On the palate, the wine is racy and fresh with an enticing mix of green apple, Bosc pear and shortbread flavors that lead into a lasting finish with great depth and length. This is a lovely Loire sparkler that delivers incredible value and refreshment. Enjoy on its own, with a vegetable omelette or fried chicken with biscuits.

Predominantly Chenin Blanc, this is an attractively crisp and textured wine. Aged in the caves of Saumur, the wine bubbles with a nutty character as well as green apples and great acidity. Drink now.

Clean-cut and balanced, with a chalky feel gliding underneath pear, pickled ginger and lemon oil notes. Mouthwatering finish. Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. Drink now. 1,000 cases made, 200 cases imported.
