Bott Frères is located in the village of Ribeauvillé, in the heart of Alsace. Since 1835, some of the oldest wine know-how has been transmitted from generation to generation; father to son. The Bott family does not manufacture wine, it cultivates it. On the estate's vineyards, seven varieties are grown and produced in a wide array of soils and the subsequent wines made in a range of styles. The grape harvest is undertaken manually and the output is monitored in order to produce high quality wines. Aging takes place in century old oak casks. The results are some of the most food friendly and distinctive wines from Alsace. Since 2019, the estate has been in transition to organic certification.
Riesling is known as the King of Alsace: the grape that is most planted in the vineyards and most celebrated by producers and consumers alike. Domaine Bott Frères Riesling is beautifully aromatic with enchanting notes of lime juice, flowers, butterscotch, toasted honey and an intriguing mineral tone. The palate is loaded with crackling acidity and a complex mix of flavors that include quince, honeycomb, lime sherbet and Ruby Red grapefruit, not to mention notes of river stones and a steely mineral core. There is an intriguing texture to the wine that provides a river bed for the all the exciting flavors to flow into a clean, bright and energetic finish. Enjoy with smoked fish, sausage and cabbage, or an Alsace specialty: Flammekueche, a bacon and onion tart.
