Founded in 2014, Carter Mollenhauer is a boutique winery owned by the husband-and-wife team of Edgard Carter and Karine Mollenhauer, who make small production wines from the indigenous grapes of Chile. With Edgard’s work in the vineyards and Karine’s winemaking skill in the cellar, the couple strive to craft high-quality wines that authentically represent the unique terroir of the Itata region. Carter Mollenhauer sources their grapes from organically-farmed vineyards surrounding their Maule winery, which are then fermented spontaneously with native yeasts.

The Aurora de Itata País is sourced from dry-farmed bush vines of over 200 years of age. Vibrant ruby in the glass, the wine offers soaring aromas of purple and blue fruits marked with notes of flowers, earth and spice. The palate is light-bodied and bright, showcasing flavors of ripe plum and blueberries that are balanced by a piquant acidity and fine, well-integrated tannins. The saline-laced finish is long and fresh. Pair with Spanish tapas, a hummus and baba ghanoush platter or most vegetarian entrées.
