The Perrachon family has been involved in the wine trade since 1601. Today, the fifth (Martine and Laurent) and sixth (Maxime and Adrien) generation run the domaine, which started producing estate wines in 1877. The domaine consists of 26 hectares in six Beaujolais Crus: Juliénas (where they are based), Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Chénas, and Saint-Amour. In addition to the Crus, the family also makes Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages; red, white and rosé. All grapes are hand-harvested and the wines are made traditionally with great care to express the terroir from where they come.
The Domaine des Perelles Morgon is made from 100% Gamay grown in granite and schist soils from 50+ year-old vines that are fermented in stainless steel and aged in a mix of concrete and old oak foudres for 12 months. Morgon makes the most full-bodied and rich wines of all the Crus, wines that will benefit from 5-10 years of bottle age, and Domaine des Perelles Morgon is no exception. Mid purple color with soaring aromas of ripe cherries, plum, pluot and apricot intermingled with notes of fresh earth. The palate refelects the nose with a fabulous concentration of stone fruits alongside a steely minerality, broad acidity and rich tannins that perfectly frame the wine's flavors. Long, sumptuos finish. Enjoy with Mexican-style beef or grilled pork with peaches or plums.
