Domaine Saint Amant is located in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a small mountain range that has some of the highest elevations in the southern Rhône. In fact, Saint Amant is the domaine with the highest elevation in the Rhône Valley. Owned by the Jaques Wallut family, the estate is composed of twenty different plots of land covering 32 acres, scattered on the southern and eastern flank of Mount Saint Amant, planted to a large number of Rhône varietals.
La Rouyère — a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Grenache — pours a brilliant mid-ruby to the rim, offering captivating aromas of red berry fruits mingling with notes of black tea and purple flowers. The palate is soft and juicy with flavors of ripe raspberry, cranberry and black cherries accented with hints of dried herbs and black pepper spice. Buoyed by mellow acidity and a graphite minerality, this Rhône red finishes smooth and sublime. An excellent pairing with smoked brisket or pan-seared duck breast.
