Mike Callahan created Maidenstoen with the goal to produce quality, site-specific California Rieslings. His mission is to cast a spotlight on unique vineyard sites and to showcase the pure, terroir-driven wines crafted from them. Mike stresses classic technique and minimal intervention in the cellar focusing on his resultant wines to speak true to their origins. Maidenstoen wines are made for drinkability and accessibility, but are built for ageability as well. In addition to Riesling, Mike also offers sit-specific Grüner Veltliner.

Maidenstoen's Mesa del Rio Grüner Veltliner is vibrantly aromatic, displaying a gorgeous bouquet of ripe orchard fruit and citrus zest on the nose. The palate is delightful, rewarding your first sip with flavors of Barlett pear and Granny Smith apple complemented with a touch of honeydew melon. These flavors coalesce towards a long finish accented with a kiss of white pepper. This wine is a wonderful accompaniment to any salad or fresh seafood dishes you can whip up.
