Quinta de Santa Eufêmia is a Portuguese Port house whose history begins in 1864 when Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho acquired vineyards in the Douro and began producing and selling Port wines. His skills and passion have been passed down from generation to generation ever since. Today, Quinta de Santa Eufêmia is in it fourth generation of family leadership.
Quinta de Santa Eufemia's Late Bottled Vintage Ports are a blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz and 20% Touriga Franca. The wine is quickly fermented in traditional lagares (treading tanks) before being fortified. After fortification, the wine is aged six months in stainless steel tanks to undergo a natural decanting process. Afterwards it is transferred to large wooden tanks where it is aged a further 4 years. The wine is dark ruby in color with purple highlights and aromas of red currants, plums and spice. It displays some minerality on the full-bodied and rich palate with firm tannins and a long finish. This wine is excellent with strong, firm cheeses or try it with marinated venison steaks.
