Gianni Doglia is a small, 10 hectare family estate located in Castagnole delle Lanze in the Asti region of Piedmont. The estate is in its third generation of family leadership under Gianni and his sister, Paola. Gianni has made the conscious decision to remain a small family operation, which allows him to pay special attention to all aspects of the winemaking process, and ensures he is able to express the essence of his unique vineyards. Out of respect for the land and their family's future, Gianni and Paola practice sustainable viticulture by respecting soil diversity to promote microbial flora and fauna; eliminating use of chemical fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides; and managing and maintaining small wooded areas between the vineyards to increase the local wildlife population. They are members of The Green Experience, a sustainablity initiative launched by producers in Piedmont that provide an accreditation that highlights natural agricultural techniques, conservation of the environment and encouragement of biodiversity. All Gianni's hard work has paid off with his recognition as Gambera Rosso's "Grower of the Year" in 2022!
Gianni Doglia's Nebbiolo vineyards are in the heart of Monferrato, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and also the place that inspired the stories of famed author Cesare Pavese. The Nebbiolo vines are grown at an altitude of 1,000 meters in calcareous-clay soils and enjoy a mild climate that benefits from the spring Foehn winds from the Alps and the summer Marin winds from the Ligurian coast, just over 43 miles away. The Monferrato Rosso is a fresh, vibrant Nebbiolo with high-toned, crunchy red fruit flavors, a saline mineral note framed within fine-grained tannnins balanced by a vibrant acidity. Enjoy with fried meat dishes or ravioli pasta.
