Domaine Duclaux was founded in 1928, though it was Edmond Duclaux, the third generation of the family, who put the domaine on the map. Edmond's sons, David and Benjamin, manually work their 5.8 hectares of vines in Côte-Rôtie and a small plot of Viognier in Condrieu. The family is most famous for their Côte Rotie wines that come from their vineyards in the southern part of the appellation on the narrow terraces of the Tupin and Semsons hillsides. However, one should not overlook their work in neighboring Condrieu.
Les Caillets is a tribute to David and Benjamin's great-grandfather, Frédérick Caillet, who purchased the original domaine in 1928. The Viognier vines are over 20 year old, all fruit is hand-harvested and fully de-stemmed before fermentation and aging in a mix of oak barrels and tank. Intense gold in color with intense aromas of apricot, honey and nuts. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and refreshing with a full, round mouthfeel. There is a wonderful concentration to the intense fruit flavors the lead into a long and decadent finish. Enjoy with scallops or chicken in a pepper cream sauce.

Very alluring, with creamed pear, glazed apricot and yellow apple notes seamlessly layered and backed by a long salted butter- and brioche-accented finish. Drink now through 2024. 550 cases made, 100 cases imported.
