David Fletcher is an Australian making wines in Barbaresco. Yes, you read that correctly. A self-described Nebbiolo addict, David moved to Piedmont in 2007, where he started working at Ceretto, eventually becoming the head winemaker at the estate. He was able to purchase the old Barbaresco train station, which now serves as his winemaking facility for his personal wine label, Fletcher, where he hand crafts a number of different wines, from classic Barbaresco to Langhe Chardonnay to a skin-contact blend of Arneis and Moscato.
Fletcher's 100% Chardonnay is made from the Cars Cru in Barbaresco. All grapes are whole bunch pressed and fermented with native yeasts in 30% new oak and 70% old barrels and aged on the lees for 8 months without battonage or racking. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
