Established in 1927, Château Sainte-Croix sits on 50 hectares in the town of Carcès. Family-owned for four generations, the estate was a former fortress built in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. After being purchased by the Pélépol family in 1924, the property stopped contributing grapes to the Carcès cooperative and began making their own wine three short years later. The vineyards are deeply rooted in clayey-calcareous soils that are mixed with sandy deposits. The Pélépol family crafts exquisite wines that are not only textbook Provençal, but are dangerously drinkable and incredibly thirst-quenching!
The Sainte-Croix le Patriarche (Black Label) is a delicious 70/30 blend of Syrah and Grenache. Deep ruby red in the glass, this rouge possesses a ripe nose of red stone and berry fruits with a touch of spice. The palate is dense and rich, offering flavors of red plum, cherry and black raspberry complemented with a light hint of earthy minerality. Smooth tannins lead to a finish that is deep and complex. Enjoy with burgers, barbecue, red meats and game.
