Petrakopoulos Wines is located in the village of Thiramonas nestled in southern Cephalonia. Led by Nikos Petrakopoulos, the estate organically farms and promotes the unique and precious grape varietals of the island, where viticulture can be traced back to the time of Ulysses. Carrying on a centuries-old family tradition, Nikos' goal is to showcase the level of quality wines that can be crafted with Cephalonia's indigenous varietals.
The Petrakopoulos Gold is crafted from 100% Zakynthino sourced from the estate's pre-phylloxera vines. This beautiful white pours an attractive pale golden color exhibiting mouthwatering aromas of citrus-washed orchard and tropical fruits with notes of white flowers and toasted almonds. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy with flavors of green apple, Asian pear, and mango, infused with notes of lemon zest, honeysuckle and fresh herbs. The fruit flavors are complemented by lively acidity and brightness leading to a pleasingly refreshing finish. A delicious accompaniment to baked scallops with lemongrass and ginger or a mixed green salad topped with grilled shrimp drizzled with lemon garlic oil.
