Domaine Roche-Audran was created in 1998 by Vincent Rochette, with vineyards in Buisson (for Côtes du Rhône), Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Visan. All vines are grown biodynamically, with the estate creating all of their own preparations. The ultimate goal for the domaine is the generation, the preservation, and especially the perpetual growth of the life force of plants and the land on which they grow.
The Visan vineyard originally belonged to Vincent's mother. The vines were planted between 1952-1960, at an altitude of 140 meters on clay-limestone and sandy soils with large alluvial stones covering the ground. Roche-Audran's Visan is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah fermented naturally in concrete vats and bottled in the spring following the vintage to preserve the wine's freshness and fruit flavors. Red and blackberries combine with hints of violet on the nose and palate. Full and silky with lots of freshness and a long, spicy black fruit finish, pair this wine with spiced poultry dishes.
