The Parize family has been making wine in the Côte Chalonnaise of Burgundy for six generations. Based in Givry, the vineyards of the domaine cover 9 hectares, seven of which are planted to Pinot Noir and two to Chardonnay, with an average vine age of roughly 30 years. Laurent Parize, the current generation in charge, is a man who works extremely hard among his vines. He embraces organic practices in the vineyards, including cultivating grasses instead of using herbicides and adding organic fertilizers when necessary. In order to increase the quality of his fruit, Laurent prunes severely, limiting the number of bunches per vine while also utilizing a green harvest to limit yields and increase the concentration of his grapes. The results are spectacular, and when combined with his vigilance in the cellar, lead to wines of clarity, finesse and flavor.

Champ Nalot is a Premier Cru vineyard in Givry. Under the careful eye of Laurent Parize, these vines produce exceptionally aromatic, balanced and enthusiastic Pinot Noir that is enjoyable young, but also has enough structure to age. An excellent value and a true diamond in the rough.
