The Boccard family have been farmig grape vines on the incredibly steep slopes of Poncieux in Bugey since 1630, though it wasn't until the 1950's when Daniel's father began making traditional sparkling wine (Méthode Ancestrale) with Gamay. In 2000, Daniel took over the estate full time, and in 2016 his daughter, Laura, joined the domain. All grapes are hand harvested and the vineyards are farmed along organic and some biodynamic guidelines.
Daniel Boccard's Methode Ancestrale sparkling wine is a blend of 95% Gamay and 5% Poulsard. The wine is low in alcohol with a point of sweetness and tiny, fine bubbles. Red berry fruit flavors combine with sweet grape flavors to create a unique drinking experience. Enjoy as an aperitif, with fried chicken or a plate of cured meats, or with fruit desserts.
