The "winemaking" bug hit Stephen Ross Dooley early: in his teenage years curiosity in wine led him to make rhubarb and apple wines in his family's basement. His curiosity evolved into a passion for winemaking, which led to a degree in Enology from UC Davis. He worked in a number of different parts of California but ultimately settled in the Central Coast, setting up an estate vineyard, Stone Corral Vineyard, in Edna Valley and winery and tasting room in San Luis Obispo. He and his team craft wines from quality vineyards in different parts of California.
Stephen Ross' Spanish Springs Vineyard Albariño is from a cool climate site on sandy loam soils, influenced by its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean at Pismo Beach on California’s Central Coast. It is two miles inland from the ocean in a small meandering narrow valley called Price Canyon. Made from 100% Albariño fermented and aged in stainless steel, the wine is a crystalline pale straw color with enticing aromas of lime zest, petrichor, and white peach. The palate is lean, racy and mineral driven with classic Albariño acidity. Enjoy with a plate of chilled shellfish or grilled octopus.
