The Quintin brothers, François and Michel, have a ten-hectare property in Coteaux du Giennois, just a stone's throw away from Sancerre. When the brothers began their winemaking endeavor in 1991, they enlisted the services of one of the top vine nurseries in France to replant their Rive Droite parcel. This plot of clay and limestone soil had lain dormant since the Phylloxera blight of the late 19th century. In the two and a half decades since, it has blossomed into the renown Domaine Quintin Frères. It is not common to see such a young estate rise as quickly through the ranks as Domaine Quintin has, accumulating medals and accolades that are almost as impressive as the wine itself!
Domaine Quintin Terre de Violettes is made from 100% Pinot Noir. Perhaps it is the power of suggestion, but their is a floral elegance that drifts effortlessly from the glass, combined with high-toned red berry fruits. On the palate, the wine is light and fresh with clear focus of fresh fruit flavors and a zingy acidity that refreshes like few red wines can. The finish is clean and precise and draws back to the glass for more. Pair with a roast ham or enjoy with seared duck breast.
