Princeton Corkscrew Wine Shop

Please join us in welcoming back Fabien Castel, owner and winemaker of Pain-Perdu in Santa Barbara County, to the Princeton Corkscrew for an amazing California wine tasting. Our most loyal customers and tasting attendees will have no trouble recognizing Fabien, who frequently visited us while he spent over two decades working side-by-side with Adam Tolmach at Ojai Vineyard. His Pain-Perdu wines — wonderful additions to our southern California selection — have just arrived in the shop and we are excited to introduce them to you.

Pain-Perdu translates to “lost bread” — referring to the dish that takes forgotten, or overlooked, stale bread and transforms it into a beautiful, delicious dessert — and Fabien Castel’s Pain-Perdu project is inspired by that dish. Pain-Perdu began in 2023 when Fabien partnered with three land stewards — three groups of like-minded and passionate wine professionals — with the ambition to explore Santa Barbara County’s untapped potential of terroir, original micro-climates and unique geologic influences. Fabien works with classic Burgundian varietals Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from three esteemed vineyard sites: Rancho San Julien in Santa Barbara County and Bentrock Vineyard and Drum Canyon Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills.

This tasting is not-to-be-missed! Though we have hosted Fabien numerous times at the Corkscrew, this visit will mark the first time he is showcasing his Pain-Perdu wines on the East Coast. Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 9th from 1-6 pm for what is sure to be another fantastic tasting. Fabien will be on hand all afternoon to answer any of your questions as we are thrilled to feature the Pain-Perdu lineup. Don’t forget to bring your friends!

We hope to see you here!
