Princeton Corkscrew Wine Shop

Please join us in welcoming Jean-Christophe Mau, owner and winemaker of Château Brown, to the Princeton Corkscrew for a special Bordeaux wine tasting. Château Brown is an iconic estate in Pessac-Léognan, one that delivers what we believe to be the best value in the region.

The history of Château Brown stretches back to the 12th century, when Aquitaine (what is now Bordeaux) was under English rule. The name of the estate comes from a Scotsman, John Lewis Brown, who purchased the estate shortly after the French Revolution in the late 18th century. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Château Brown was recognized as one of the flagship producers in Pessac-Léognan, though in the 20th century the estate fell on hard times. In 2004, Jean-Christophe Mau purchased the estate from Bernard Barthe, who, in 1994, began the process of resurrecting the phoenix from the ashes. Jean-Christophe continued the intensive modernization of the vineyards and the cellar begun by Bernard. With his savvy, Jean-Christophe was able to highlight the exceptional quality of Brown’s terroir and wines to Bordeaux insiders, firmly reestablishing the estate’s historic reputation

This is Jean-Christophe’s first visit to the Corkscrew, but it is sure to be a well-attended tasting given the popularity of Château Brown wines! Be sure to mark your calendars on Saturday, October 26th from 1-6 pm for what is certain to be another amazing tasting. We will be showcasing the new vintages of Jean-Christophe’s red and whites and he will be on hand all afternoon to answer any of your questions. And don’t forget to invite your friends to this not-to-be-missed event…

We hope to see you here!
